Well, it is heading into Indian Summer. Of course I say that when it is going to be blisteringly hot here today. But no worries for now, I am holed up in an air-conditioned sanctuary.
So one goal I've had is to help endangered turtles. I looked into it and found a place in Costa Rica where I could go, which makes it easier to get to than my original choice of Malaysia. I would love to squirrel away enough money to go there next year for a week or so.
Other places I'd like to see include Thailand- to see the synchronous lightning bugs; Vieques Bay, Puerto Rico- to swim in a bioluminescent bay, Papua New Guinea &/or Madagascar for their amazing endemic wildlife, the Puszcza Białowieska Euroregion- a primeval forest in between Poland and Belarussia (think the original Hansel & Gretel forest.) Hmmm, I'm sensing a theme here :) Yes, I'd rather be stuck in a forest then some tourist trap or military museum.
